Mahila Bakri Palan Yojana

  • This project is aimed for the rural women (divorcee, widowed, handicapped and disaster affected) for their economic upliftment and self reliance. In the first phase the project is being implemented in the disaster prone districts of Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi wherein 120 goat units will be established. 24 women beneficiaries, from each district will be given 100% subsidy for 3+1 goat unit establishment. The women beneficiaries will be provided training for skill development in Central Institute of Research on Goats (CIRG) Mathura.

Procurement and Marketing of Raw Wool in Uttarakhand

  • Under the project, in the first phase it is proposed to purchase 200 qtl. of raw wool from the identified 42 sheep dense populated villages of Uttarakhand wherein the machine shearing camps will be organized. 58 Unemployed educated shepherds will be engaged as Wool Shearer and will be thoroughly trained in machine shearing, wool grading, packaging and marketing of raw wool. Revolving fund will be created for purchase of raw wool and for balancing any losses if occur. Additional income for revolving fund may be generated in future by charging machine shearing facilities from shepherds. The raw wool produced by shepherds of Uttarakhand will be marketed as a Brand “Uttarakhand Wool”.
